Design Engineer - Thermal

Job Summary:

The Design Engineer will be an integral member of the R&D team in support of the Thermal Management Business Unit.  Primary responsibilities include conceptualization, engineering design, analysis and specification of new products, platforms, and technologies.  The Senior Design Engineer should embody a logical, creative, and curious approach to product design, paired with a passion for innovation and problem solving.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop products from conceptualization to launch
  • Collaborates and consults with Test, Manufacturing and Quality Engineers in support of NPI
  • Interacts with customers and suppliers as needed to assess new technology needs
  • Leads or assists in efforts to resolve product performance issues
  • Adheres to all safety regulations
  • Demonstrates support of CPC core values
  • Performs other job duties as required to meet business needs.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Curious, creative, and tenacious problem solver
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required; must be able to communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, and customers
  • Ability to work independently, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • CAD proficiency – PTC Creo, Solidworks, etc
  • Knowledge and grasp of rapid prototyping techniques and manufacturing methods
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated history of design innovation
  • Energetic and enthusiastic approach toward the definition of new products, complimented by an educated and realistic business outlook
  • 5+ years’ experience in design of mass produced products such as automotive, appliances, toys, etc.
  • Competent in the design and development of plastic components.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with fluid handling industry and challenges
  • Familiarity with thermal management techniques
  • Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Design experience with fluid handling components for industrial applications.
  • Demonstrated history of working directly with customers to translate their needs into innovative new products.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, or another related field.
  • 7+ years of design and product development experience

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, or related field
