Job Summary:

The Logistics Manager, reporting to the Director of Planning and Logistics, is responsible for controlling the movement of material within the plant, from site to site, and to customers. This person will optimize warehouse operations to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of material to our customers both internal and external.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure integrity of inventory and confirm that cycle counts are completed as planned.
  • Direct and monitor material flow to ensure adequate supply of materials and supplies for manufacturing and for customer orders.
  • Develop PFEP including data warehouse and strategies for storage, put away, warehouse design, site to site transfers, and replenishment of manufacturing lines.
  • Develop robust, and optimized processes for picking and shipping of customer orders.
  • Develop optimized processes for picking production orders and replenishing production cells.
  • Investigate and make recommendations for technology/automation solutions that improve cost, quality and delivery performance.
  • Plan and implement changes to the warehouse layout to ensure maximum efficiencies.
  • Perform metrics reporting and data analysis tasks to identify issues and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Implement daily management tools for planning, performance tracking, and problem solving.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement efforts necessary to reduce costs, improve efficiency and promote a positive work environment.
  • Clearly communicate expectations to team members and provide feedback through coaching, performance reviews and training to provide the necessary tools for employees to be successful.
  • Respond to and resolve complaints and issues with customer shipments.
  • Manage outside vendors – 3 PL’s, carriers, and couriers.
  • Resolve inbound/outbound delivery issues including for imports/exports and with customs.
  • Develop good working relationships with stakeholders internal and external to the company to ensure acquisition of accurate, relevant, and timely information.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly working environment and ensure work and safety procedures are followed.
  • Prepare, submit, and present periodic reports

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, engineering, supply chain or similar degree
  • 5 years experience in supply chain, logistics, or operations
  • Minimum of 3 years direct leadership experience
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Access, and other analytics tools
  • Self-driven, adaptable and resourceful; able to work under limited supervision
  • Working knowledge of logistics and ERP/WMS software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Lean Sigma experience or certification (Green Belt)
  • Project management experience
  • Oracle ERP experience

Supervision: This position is responsible for up to 100 indirect reports across first, second, third and weekend shifts. Direct reports include supervisors or managers.

Travel:            Less than 10%
