Job Summary:

The Production Buyer, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, is responsible for supply of direct components, troubleshooting shortages, and managing inventory to drive improvement in customer OTD.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full purchasing cycle including generating requisitions, maintaining purchase orders, goods receipt, and payment using Oracle and ASCP.
  • Optimize inventory investment to provide target service levels at lowest cost.
  • Manage supplier performance, provide supplier feedback, and manage corrective actions.
  • Identify short parts, troubleshoot, and drive corrective actions.
  • Identify trends and reoccurring issues and recommend counter measures.
  • Effectively manage excess and obsolete inventories.
  • Identify and manage risk to supply and delivery of customer orders.
  • Develop relationships with assigned suppliers.
  • Work with accounts payable to investigate and resolve invoice issues.
  • Engage teams in other departments or divisions of the organization to address delivery issues.
  • Actively communicate to internal and external cross-functional teams (customer service, planning, engineering, QA, suppliers) to ensure timely distribution of information for assigned parts.
  • Support quoting process with suppliers as needed.
  • Maintain Oracle master data for suppliers and SKUs.
  • Plan and schedule production using methods for lean scheduling.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, engineering, or technical discipline with 5+ years experience in purchasing, or Associate's Degree in supply chain, engineering, or technical discipline with 8+ years experience in purchasing
  • Proficient in the use of Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oracle ERP experience
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certified
  • Experience in high mix, low volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience with injection molding

Travel: Less than 10%
