Import Export Analyst Job Description:

Position Purpose

 

This Import Export Analyst will report to the Senior Logistics Manager and support import/export operations by gathering information and providing analysis that will determine import/export authorization requirements. The position will be the primary support for import clearing, and conduct import and export declaration filings. This position works independently, with moderate supervision.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain appropriate import and export classification (Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Schedule B, Export Control Classification Number), country of origin and value information.
  • Supports import transactions as required for Assist Declarations, Antidumping and Countervailing Duties, Preferential trade agreements, certificate issuance, Free Trade Agreements, etc.
  • Participates in import and/or export compliance reviews and interface with brokers/freight forwarders to insure proper declarations to government agencies.
  • Supports Colder in the use of Automated Export System (AES).
  • Conducts regular review of import documentation and conducts compliance reviews of import procedures.
  • Provides supervision to the Shipping Department's export authorizations to internal product groups and shipping dept.
  • Answers import/export related questions.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Other Functions

  • Attends appropriate seminars, training, etc. to remain current in new developments in import/export compliance

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong experience with making classifications under the HTS and Schedule B
  • Working experience with Customs Act and EAR regulations
  • Working experience with Free Trade Agreements
  • Computer skills including data analysis
  • Knowledge of international import/export processes
  • Employs personal judgment and initiative to develop constructive solutions to challenges in export activities and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid problem-solving skills

Education and Certification

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Customs Broker License a plus

Experience Required

  • 5+ years in Customs and logistics experience required
  • Proficient computer skills-MS Office Suite required

 

Working Environment/ Physical Activities

 

  • Ordinary office environment
  • Some domestic and/or international travel may be required
