Senior Accountant

Position Overview:
As the Accounting Supervisor you will report directly to the Finance Director, Italy (Revenue EUR 30M, 100 employees). Within your role you will have responsible for supervising and maintaining the correct records for the accounts and compliance to Group’s accounting procedures. You will be overseeing a team of three to ensure the accurate and timely execution of local accounting and tax activities and reporting, and the preparation and closing of local Financial Statements.
 
Financial and tax accounting

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department including: accounts payable/receivable, intercompany transactions and reconciliations, general ledger, asset ledger management, VAT and tax accounting and reporting
• Ensure accurate and timely Balance Sheet reconciliations 
• Be the subject matter expert for all tasks pertaining local accounting, tax and financial statements
• Where needed, define and implement proper accounting methods, policies and principles, according to Group’s guidelines
• Manage bank-related procedures, e.g. Request for Warranties / Letter of Credit

Statutory Financial Statements / Audit

• Be responsible for the preparation of Statutory Financial Statements and Explanatory Notes
• Follow closely the external auditors (Mazars)  annual and periodical audits
• Interact closely with external consultants (E&Y for Tax calculation, booking and reporting; KPMG for Corporate tax reporting)  

VAT / Tax

• Ensure the timely and accurate execution of VAT liquidation, VAT declaration, LIPE, 770
• Ensure the accurate maintenance of fiscal files and records to document transactions
• Participate in the Transfer Pricing reporting process

Systems

• Improve systems and procedures in the accounting area and initiate corrective actions
• Participate in the implementation of SAP S/4 Hana, training of team
• Work closely with Group’s finance, I/CO colleagues, treasury department and other international teams, when required. 

Education, Experience & Skills:

• BS degree in Accounting or Finance
• Proven experience as Accounting Manager within a large multinational organisation  
• Very fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Advanced Excel user
• SAP R/3 Knowledge
• Sold knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
• US GAAP or IFRS knowledge (desireable)
• Knowledge of Cost accounting (desireable)
• Exposure to manufacturing Industry (desireable)
• Brief experience in a Tax consulting and accounting firm (desireable)
