POSITION OVERVIEW:

Supervises and coordinates the activities and personnel engaged in the functions of assembly, testing, and manufacturing support.  Plans, directs and coordinates manufacturing processes.  Plans, develops, reviews and evaluates the manufacturing portion of the business system which includes reinforcing procedures which ensure compliance to our standards and processes.  Review and evaluates the departments’ performance matrices.  Responsible for following and executing the full range of management activities, which includes selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

  • Must understand technology and the market from a technical applications perspective
  • Good engineering aptitude, electrical or mechanical (degree preferred but not required)
  • Able to handle large customers (prefer someone with established relationships)
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and facilitate consensus
  • Experienced working with a variety of functional groups, e.g. engineering, marketing, sales, manufacturing and operations
  • Able to adapt to rapidly changing markets, management structure, and corporate culture

Duties:

  • Obtain P&L responsibility and strive to meet/exceed product line goals & expectations
  • Keep product line focused on customers
  • Support marketing and sales in determining current customer needs and future opportunities
  • Work with sales and marketing to insure judicious selection and management of strategic accounts
  • Interface with customers, engineering and manufacturing to develop products that meet customer's current and future needs
  • Manage product portfolio, eliminating obsolete products and championing new products.
  • Manage the Cross Functional Team directly responsible for the product fulfillment process (of the appropriate product line)
  • Manage project or program managers
  • Bring together cross functional teams to facilitate cooperative and coordinated efforts between product lines
  • Establish and monitor critical metrics to identify and eliminate inefficiencies and bottlenecks between functional groups as orders flow from engineering to production and delivery
  • Improve customer service before and after delivery
  • Help to develop outsourcing and strategic partnerships, where applicable.
  • Drive cost reduction by maintaining focus on strategic customers, lean manufacturing, and effective cross functional team work
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or technically related field is preferred or >5 years of experience in a supervisory position within a manufacturing environment, including lean manufacturing concepts. Strong leadership and organizational skills, general financial knowledge and experience, legislative safety requirements, and computer skills are required. Must be able to communicate effectively and present information to employees and management.
