Quality Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Handles major projects; participates in high-level cross-functional teams, including customer interface.
  • Develops inspection and testing processes and procedures including inspection methods and inspection plans.
  • Writes, edits, reviews and/or approves quality documents.
  • Applies strategic decision-making skills to identify performance gaps and establish goals and objectives to successfully meet the organization's expectations.
  • Plans and conducts effective benchmarking, and applies lessons learned.
  • Identifies concepts in quality business processes and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitates and/or participates in Process and Design FMEA’s.
  • Participates in design reviews and process reviews and supports to ensure build instructions are compliant with design/customer requirements. 
  • Interfaces with sales, engineering Customers, and Suppliers.
  • Provides input to the contract review process.
  • Facilitates and is responsible for the Material Review Board, including processing/dispositioning of nonconforming material.
  • Provides diagnostic research; analyzes defect data, identifies trends, and suggests corrective and preventive actions. 
  • Systematically analyzes complex process problems and develops/evaluates alternative solutions.
  • May participate as an Auditor for Internal and/or supplier audits.
  • Assist inspectors in determining defects, component information, process indicators, etc.  Acts as a referee to verify conformance.
  • Acts as technical interface between design engineering, mechanical engineering, purchasing agent and the supplier.
  • Integrates quality and statistical tools with lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Effectively presents information to all levels of the company in electronic, oral, and/or written form.
  • Work with inspectors and supervisors to ensure that the product being built conforms to specified requirements
  • Assist QA, engineering and/or production in determining the root cause and corrective action of customer returns.
  • Participates in product and process qualification, and/or wherever decisions are made that may affect product quality.
  • Initiates and recommends the issuance of Corrective Action Requests when product and or process nonconformance is found.
  • Initiate and manage Quality Alerts.
  • May have supervisory responsibility. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:

BS degree in a technical discipline with 5 years of quality-related experience.  Ability to clearly communicate with tact and sensitivity; ability to write succinctly; ability to make presentations and respond to sensitive inquiries.  Ability to apply advanced statistical techniques.   Ability to read drawings, blueprints and schematics.  Ability to organize and prioritize.  Lean manufacturing experience.  Strong to expert user of Microsoft Office tools. Ability to work independently and with minimal day-to-day direction.  Ability to manage via influence rather than title.  Ability to facilitate meetings and manage interactions across diverse groups, e.g. engineers, sales, finance, marketing.

ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer, and ASQ Certified Green Belt highly desirable

 

 

 

 

Work Arrangement : Onsite  

Salary Range : $70,000.00   - $90,000.00
