This VP of Operations is responsible for overall management of all MPG's operations in terms of profitability and long-term viability through effective and efficient production of products.  The role also has responsibility to plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization.   This position must build and develop the operations organization, processes and procedures to support MPG's strategic direction and establish operations initiatives for improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost by performing the following duties personally or though subordinates.  Further development of continuous improvement culture and structure is included within this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for safety and the implementation of safety initiatives that drive the organization toward the goal of zero accidents
  • Provide overall operational leadership to a ~500-person organization within MPG's Global sites
  • Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the organization’s operations division to ensure effective and consistent support and execution
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials
  • Review and analyze financial statements to understand the state of operations and its impact on the value streams and associated product lines
  • Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the President and other MPG leadership
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management
  • Provide environmental oversight for the company.  Assure conformance to laws, rules, and regulations
  • Responsible for understanding and implementation of Dover Strategic Sourcing initiatives for MPG
  • Ensure proper training is developed and provided to staff, including extensive cross training to address mix changes
  • Lead the development and execution of a global manufacturing and sourcing strategy across all manufacturing facilities in the Americas, Europe, and Dominican Republic
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, continually evaluate a make vs. buy decisions, where applicable
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement through deployment of standard work and productivity; inspire results by finding new ways to work
  • Lead efforts to increase manufacturing and sourcing in best-cost regions, specifically Dominican Republic, for appropriate products
  • Initiate and drive productivity and automation projects to support additional throughput, product and process innovation, as well as margin improvement
  • Create a pipeline of future leaders by cultivating an environment where there is challenging work, opportunities for growth, and regular coaching and feedback
  • Establish MPG manufacturing experts in the areas of productivity improvement techniques, materials usage, shipping & receiving, capacity planning, and production scheduling
  • Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate results with faster improvements & improved working relationships
  • In concert with President of MPG & other executive staff members, ensures compliance to State & Federal regulations
  • Ensure facilities are well maintained and appealing places to work
  • Works effectively with internal departments and externally with other Dover OpCo’s  
  • Develop a strategy, programs and implementation plans for the successful deployment of an Operational Excellence Culture.
  • Support, develop and mentor site functions to enable them to succeed in their OpEx journey.
  • Lead, manage and monitor communication and reporting of key performance indicators, including OpEx assessments, performance improvements, and any other high-impact initiatives to improve financial and operational performance of the site while creating a positive working environment.
  • Exchange OpEx best practices and shared knowledge and expertise across the organization.
  • Benchmark with best-in-class companies to integrate leading practices into manufacturing activities and processes.
  • Continuously improve tools, training, documentation, deployment methodologies to support the OpEx maturity levels progression to attain internal certifications, i.e. Driving Change, Overcoming Adversity, Victorious, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) in Operations Management, Business Management or other related field, MBA or Master’s degree preferred
  • Sound knowledge in accounting
  • 10-15 years of operational experience in a global manufacturing environment.  Candidate that has experience within a hi-tech manufacturing setting will be given greater consideration
  • Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies as a practitioner
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans
  • Intellectually curious with sound reasoning and judgement
  • Effective communicator (written and oral) up and down the organization
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong in Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. SharePoint experience a plus
  • Ability to travel 30% (including occasional international travel)
