Position Summary:
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of analog and digital electronic hardware for PSG Dover’s various sensing and control instrumentation products. You will collaborate with various departments in a fast-paced environment to ensure your products receive the engineering support they need throughout their life cycle. You will work with cross-functional teams to enhance product yields and oversee design specifications. You will work with Quality and Reliability to resolve product issues requiring corrective actions. You will identify cost-reduction opportunities and track activities to ensure timely implementation. As needed, you will work with outside agencies to certify that product modifications stay true to the original safety requirements under the product listing.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical, and Computer Engineering.
  • Six (6) + years of related experience
  • Thorough understanding and design experience in analog & digital circuit designs.
  • Hands-on experience in Microcontroller, Microprocessor, and FPGA-based designs.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting of embedded hardware system.
  • Experience in the design of circuits involving ADC/DAC, sensors, signal conditioning, etc.
  • Decision-making skills related to component selection and circuit design.
  • Experience in EMI/EMC designs both at the circuit level and product system level.
  • Experience in communication protocols such as UART / I2C / SPI / RS232 etc.
  • Ability to handle complex designs with minimal guidance or supervision.
  • Understanding of the hardware electronics manufacturing process, product life cycle.
  • Analytical skills in resolving technical issues with product failures.
  • Experience leading product safety discussions and following up through to issue resolution.
     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Digital and analog hardware circuit design.
  • Design maintenance/modification/optimization across a product life time.
  • Performs dimensional tolerances checks and stack-up analysis. 
  • Develops and changes bill of materials (BOMs) as required. 
  • Performs product testing as required. 
  • Assists in checking mechanical drawings and BOMs for accuracy and/or ECO approval. 
  • Assists in the engineering lab as required to complete validate testing. 
  • Assists in the development of product technical manuals and sales literature. 
  • Perform and present gated design reviews with both internal staff, as well as with customers at specific times in the design lifecycle of components.
  • Other essential duties may be assigned as required. 

 
Desired Characteristics:

  • Schematic and layout tools (Altium Designer or similar).
  • Knowledge of complete hardware electronics product life cycle, from concept to production.
  • FPGA coding capability using VHDL or Verilog is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Python/Perl for automatic product testing, data collection and analysis is an advantage.
  • Experience in using lab equipment like oscilloscope, logic analyzer, thermal chamber, power supply etc.
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal and written.
