The Role
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for performing on-site installation, maintenance, service repair, and support for Markem-Imaje products and services across Central Malaysia. This role is perfect for junior engineers, fresh graduates, or experienced professionals looking to pivot into a new industry. We provide comprehensive training on our specialized industrial printing and coding systems—all you need is a background in engineering, a valid driving license, and a strong hunger to learn!
What you will do:
- Execute on-site installation: Run point on product installations at customer factories and facilities, ensuring machinery is set up correctly from day one.
- Deliver hands-on maintenance: Perform both scheduled preventive maintenance and urgent emergency repairs to maximize equipment uptime for clients.
- Provide clear client training: Educate customers and factory operators in person or via phone on correct equipment handling, safety, and troubleshooting.
- Investigate & resolve issues: Diagnose equipment errors, source correct parts, arrange repairs, and analyse warranty coverage to offer long-term machinery improvements.
- Enforce technical standards: Strictly monitor and follow company field service policies, regional safety protocols, and corporate technical standards at all times.
- Manage inventory & parts: Proactively monitor customer equipment health, recommend essential spare parts, and track your personal service inventory toolkit.
- Support sales demonstrations: Partner with the Sales team to provide technical expertise, software support, and equipment demonstrations to prospective clients.
What you need to have:
- Educational background: Minimum Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
- Experience level: Open to fresh graduates, junior engineers, or mid-career switchers looking for a fresh start in industrial equipment service.
- Growth mindset: High adaptability and a strong keenness to learn new technologies and processes.
- Valid driving license: Must possess a valid Malaysian driving license (Class D) and be willing to travel daily across Central Malaysia.
- Flexibility: Comfortable adhering to standard working hours alongside participating in a scheduled standby/on-call rotation to support critical client needs.
- Logical thinking: Strong troubleshooting logic and ability to use technical manuals to solve problems.
- Soft skills: Good communication, time management, and a customer-oriented attitude.
- Team player: Highly personable and able to work well with both clients and internal teams.
