Global Commodity Leader - Agile Sourcing

The Global Commodity Leader - Agile Sourcing, whilst reporting into the Global Commodity Manager based out of France, will be responsible for the management of the laser (laser tubes, scan heads, galvo systems, opto-electronics) sourcing category. The individual will be part of the Global Commodity Team and focusing on detecting and engaging with new suppliers within international markets (primarily China), while working closely with our Product Divisions. It’s a strategic role with a critical impact on our future products roadmap through innovation scouting and early supplier involvement.

What you will do:

• Accountable to design, communicate and execute a roadmap for the annual plan

• Provide forward‑looking guidance on trends, threats, opportunities, and technology shifts.
• Analyze global and regional market trends, cost dynamics, competitive landscape, and innovation signals.

• Agile supplier scouting

• Operate as the company’s technology radar and entrepreneurial scout in Asia’s fast‑moving industrial ecosystem; and identify new suppliers
• Conduct rapid, structured assessments of suppliers: compliance, financial stability, technical capabilities, scalability, and geopolitical exposure.
• Translate PD technical needs into targeted scouting missions and technology search campaigns.

• Contributes to the global Direct Material & Supply Base Performance

• Accountable for setting and achieving cost optimization and supply base optimization objectives.
• Pilot sourcing KPIs and ensure compliance with sourcing processes and governance.

• Represent laser commodities within the Product Division organization

• Act as the primary sourcing interface embedded in PD teams for innovation, feasibility studies, and technology road mapping.
• Support NPI sourcing work package requirements and early supplier involvement (ESI).
• Support PD requirements for CPSO: VAVE, obsolescence, trade compliance, phase‑out strategies.
• Contribute to PD competitive roadmaps by challenging technical assumptions and proposing alternative technologies or architectures sourced from scouting activities.
• Discipline continuous improvement: policy, procedures, tools and reporting
• Identify and communicate areas for improvement in sourcing processes and tools.
• Provide ideas, best practices, and benchmarking insights from the China ecosystem.
• Ensure all Dover and Markem-Imaje standards are communicated and applied by suppliers (including but not limited to): Ethical standards, compliance to international and local regulations, Trade compliance, Environmental and safety standards.

What you need to have:

• At least 8+ years of experience in global sourcing, commodity management, strategic procurement role within highly innovative, fast-moving and technology driven environment
• Relevant academical background in technical or engineering discipline, and advanced degree in Supply Chain, Procurement or similar will be a big plus
• Proven experience in supplier scouting in China and other Best Value Countries.
• Experience in electronics, energy, laser, semiconductor, or optoelectronics industries will be a plus.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English
• Experience operating in multicultural and matrix organizations will be a plus
• Availability to travel frequently within China, Asia and occasionally across other regions (up to 20%).
