Assistant Accountant

Position Summary:

 

Support the finance department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of ledger transactions, undertaking of accounting tasks and ad hoc projects as required.

 

This role will provide the candidate with a wide and varied experience across accounting functions and activities.

 

The role will develop as the candidate’s skills strengthen and widen, the role will move from a predominately transactional base of activities to a mix of transactional and accounting analysis/reporting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·          Prepare and process sales invoices

·          Check, calculate and allocate customer contracts, invoices and receipts

·          Responsible for accounts receivable credit control

·          Validate and post supplier invoices

·          Assist in preparation of weekly supplier payment files

·          Process bank transactions for multiple banks

·          Complete monthly bank reconciliations as required

·          Support the cash forecasting and weekly reporting function

·          Sort incoming and outgoing post as well as deal with internal and external queries

·          Handle financial paperwork and filing

·          Assist the management accountant in preparation of prepayments and accruals

·          Assist the finance team in the month-end and year-end process to meet group reporting and delivery requirements

·          Assist in preparing and posting month end journals

·          Assist with internal and external audits

·          Help to identify improvements in working capital

·          Assist in the forecasting and budget process

·          Assist in the review, improvement and implementation of internal controls and processes

·          Assist in the preparation of Vat/EC sales returns as required

·          Assist in the improvement and streamlining of finance activities for the new combined structure

·          Provide timely and accurate financial information to the finance director including adhoc financial analysis as required

·          Ad-hoc projects
