The Buyer supports the strategic sourcing projects as well as the tactical purchasing efforts at Midland.  It encompasses the daily review of the site Plan for Every Part (PFEP), MRP requirements and purchase order placement to ensure product is available to meet production / shipping schedules. Provides information and support to Manufacturing, Production Control/Planning, Customer Service, Sales and Engineering as required by the needs of the business.


Primary Responsibilities/Essential Responsibilities: 


  • Monitors the MRP (Material Requirement Planning) report and responds to changes as they occur in open purchase orders.
  • Reviews material requirements report outputs and takes appropriate Purchasing actions.
  • Coordinates engineering, production control, quality, purchasing and other activities to achieve optimum flow of materials to meet production schedules and customer demands, both internal and external.
  • Understand and perform to all quality regulations, standards and policies, including but not limited to ISO 9001:2015 and AAR M-1003. Follow work procedures and ensure highest level of quality.
  • Provides input to team regarding problems such as shortages, design changes, backlogs, etc.
  • Places purchase orders with suppliers.
  • Solicits and evaluates requests for quotes
  • Maintains purchasing and related information systems databases, as assigned.
  • Works on company-wide projects with key suppliers, as assigned.
  • Responsible for supporting and/or driving supplier quality performance.
  • Facilitates visitations to supplier facilities.
  • Conducts visitations to supplier facilities. (Sourcing, quality audits, project mgt., problem solving, etc).
  • Represents the company in negotiations and business activities with suppliers, as assigned.
  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.  May participate in Midland Supplier selection process as assigned.
  • Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area.
  • Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in assigned area.  Responsible for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including a self-assessment and report to management.
  • Work safely and without injury.
  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.






  • Associate’s degree
  • One year of experience in purchasing/planning
  • One year of experience in using MRP/ERP systems (Oracle) highly desirable

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

  • May require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.  May require lifting up to 50 pounds. 
  • This position is performed in an office environment.  May be necessary to work in a shop environment as job duties require.  May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.
