Midland Manufacturing, part of OPW, a Dover Company is a leader in rail tank car valves and fittings industry. Currently, we are seeking a Human Resources Manager for our Skokie, IL and Houston, TX locations.  In this position, you will be responsible for providing daily HR leadership in the areas of employee relations, performance management, and training and development. The HR Manager will partner with local management and Senior HR leaders to execute strategic human resources plans that support the needs and priorities of the business and drive proactive, strategic, forward-thinking solutions.

 

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership, HR expertise and coaching to managers and employees with specific focus on: employee advocacy/engagement, employee relations management, performance management, compensation, benefits, organizational development, career development and talent assessment, acquisition and retention 
  • Provide employees and managers with an available first point of contact for questions and guidance on fundamental HR topics and issues 
  • Build credible and trusting relationships with employee populations to help facilitate effective employee communications and relations
  • Ensure that all employee relations issues are properly identified, reported & resolved 
  • Provide advice and counsel to managers and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures and practices at 100% compliance to promote an ethical and compliant work environment 
  • Lead key HR processes including talent review, compensation planning for locations
  • Assist with other HR special projects or initiatives as needed 
  • Lead other site-wide HR projects as necessary, working across multiple client groups
  • Talent Champion, helping to attract, develop, engage and retain the world's best talent
  • Organizational coach, who supports and enables change, builds organizational capabilities and reduces complexity
  • Contribute to the business by helping identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Industrial Psychology or related field
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.  This position will be responsible for manufacturing locations in Skokie, IL and Houston, TX
