Overview:

The Maintenance Mechanic performs troubleshooting, repair, modification and preventive maintenance tasks on CNC and related production equipment as the primary funciton.   May also be tasked with building, facilities, equipment fixtures and systems as needed which could include plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.

 

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Work safely and without injury to self and others.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains a variety of CNC machines and miscellaneous manfucturing, assembly and testing equipment as well as standard facility systems.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance operations such as maintaining an accurate TPM record, lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc. in accordance in manufacturers operation and maintenance schedule and guidelines.
  • Performs routine and assists with complex trouble shooting and repair of mechanical equipment and systems.  (Requires the isolation of the malfunction, disassembly of equipment and repair/replacement of bearings, gears, structural components, etc.)
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; soliciting information from line operators and other production associates and listening for problems.
  • Uses precision measuring and testing instruments, gauges, power tools and other hand tools to complete essential functions.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment to return to safe operation.
  • Assists in the movement of equipment and furniture as needed.
  • Participates in team meetings as required (safety, problem-solving, etc.)
  • Implements the Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities.
  • Performs limited machining operations incidental to repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance determines nature of problem and recommends appropriate solution.
  • Performs required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
  • Evaluates data to determine equipment performance and verifies effectiveness of repairs by ensuring that product produced meets specifications.
  • Flexibility with work shift times to accommodate production need. 

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent. 
  • Five years of CNC maintenance troubleshooting experience.
  • CNC machining center experience preferred, including Mazak, Nakamura, Samsung, Okuma and/or DMG Mori.
  • Minimum of 3 years general repair and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic operations and controls  

 

Desired Characteristics, Competence and Capabilities:

  • Proficient reading engineer drawings, blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Must possess good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; must be able to multi-task and prioritize duties.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Technical or trade school training in related field

 

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

  • Continuously standing/walking up to 8 hours
  • Repetitive grasping and fine manipulation with hands
  • Frequent walking, bending, squatting, or twisting
  • Repetitive push or pull
  • May work at heights above floor level
  • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds frequently without assistance and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance
  • This position is performed in a manufacturing environment.  May be exposed to:
    • Loud operating machinery
    • Wide temperature variations
    • Exposure to chemicals, vapors and lubricants 
  • Use of standard mechanic hand and power tools, ladders, lifts, computer.

Work Arrangement : Onsite  

Salary Range : $29.00   - $38.35
