Position Title: Shipper/Receiver

 

Reports To: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Essential Functions:

 

  1. Work safely and without injury.
  2. Packages outgoing orders in a manner that insures safe transportation.
  3. Verifies that orders have been picked correctly before shipment.
  4. Labels shipments for transportation and provides all required documentation.
  5. Able to use Oracle system and transfer materials between locations and produce packing lists on the computer.
  6. Operates parcel manifest system, complying with routing instructions on pick ticket.
  7. Handles outgoing materials.  This task includes carrying, stacking, lifting and loading cartons.
  8. Loads & unloads trailers using forklifts and pallet jacks.    Restocks picking locations as instructed.
  9. Cleans shipping, receiving and warehouse area including sweeping, mopping & dusting.
  10. Assists in physical inventory. 
  11. Perform daily forklift inspection
  12. Correctly inspects, identifies & receives incoming material (raw & packaging).
  13. Contacts freight companies verification of product pick-up.
  14. Quarantine incoming materials for inspection.
  15. Use Oracle system to enter received materials.
  16. Maintain shipping/receiving log.
  17. Works overtime as necessary.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  1. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  2. Ability to read and comprehend simple company procedures, instructions and short correspondence.
  3. Ability to calculate figures and amounts involving the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractional relationships to a decimal level.
  4. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and/or diagram format.  Ability to deal with problem solving with two variables.
  5. Able to (or ability to be trained) - drive company forklift.
  6. Computer knowledge needed.  Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and preferably Oracle.
  7. Fully capable of handling any material needs, solving material problems and inventory control issues as they arise.
  8. Ability to read Bills of Materials (BOMs) and correlate BOMs to prints.
  9. Supports other order selection personnel in order selection process to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of products.
  10. Accepts other tasks as assigned by the Shipping, Receiving & Warehouse Supervisor, and/or Director of Supply Chain.

Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other team members.  Conflict resolution.  Excellent interpersonal skills.  Excellent verbal and customer service skills. Must have mathematical skills equivalent to those required under degree requirement

  1. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

  1. Fully capable of handling and material needs, solving material problems and inventory control issues as they arrive.

 

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

 

This position is performed in an office environment.  May be necessary to work in a shop environment as job duties require.  May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.
