Overview:

The Welder will operate TIG & MIG welding machines, including power up, cleaning and finish weld on various parts and maintaining cleanliness while working.  The Welder is expected to meet productivity and quality requirements while performing welds according to specifications.

 

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work safely and without injury
  • Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking distortion, or expansion of materials
  • Examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
  • Must be able to read blueprints, welding process specifications and welding symbols
  • Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers and rulers
  • Must be able to understand and comply with established Quality process and regulatory requirements.  This may include but is not limited to reporting/documenting non-conformining material and product, inspecting work performed and moving product between work stations
  • Follow established work procedures and ensure highest level of quality
  • Ensure assigned work instructions are understood prior to starting work production
  • Comply with standards and procedures of “Midland Manufacturing’s Health and Safety Manual and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
  • Complete housekeeping duties in assigned areas or project area on a daily basis
  • Complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to the specifications.
  • Complete required paperwork relevant to job
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned
  • Flexibility with work shift times to accommodate production needs

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years experience with both MIG and TIG welding
  • Prior experience with welding of stainless steel, carbon steel, nickel alloy required with experence  with  nickle alloy and Hastalloy preferred
  • Must be able to be AAR regulatory certified as a Welder within 180 days of employment 

 

Desired Characteristics, Competence and Capabilities:

  • Existing ASNT NDT Level II Certification 
  • Must possess good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; must be able to multi-task and prioritize duties
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work indpendently with limited supervisor

 

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, continuously standing may be required. Repetitively grasping and  fine manipulation with the hands.  Frequently required to walk, bend, squat, or twist as well as repetitively push or pull frequently up to 5-20 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds
  • This position is performed in a manufacturing environment.  Team members in this position may be exposed to loud operating machinery, temperatures variations with limited exposure to chemicals and vapors.  
  • The Welder will use weld equipment, hand and power tools and, measuring instruments, etc.
