Summary Description

The Application Technician position is designed to ensure an optimal level of technical service and support for OPW’s sales force, distribution and end users.  This role is responsible the innovation and implementation of the means to continually enhance the level of technical service and ensure that distribution and end-users are thoroughly trained to install and maintain OPW products and systems.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage field test programs for OPW products in support of new product development, including surveying potential test sites, coordinating installation of components, monitoring / testing components, troubleshooting customer complaints and preparing reports for design engineering team with requested field data.
  • Provide Technical Support over the telephone, via email or in the field as a response to distributor and customer inquiries, or proactively based on product changes or enhancements and/or during field training, installation, testing and/or certification.
  • Deliver Technical Sales Support in the form of quotation of materials for purchase orders for systems sales such as Flexworks and Vapor Recovery Systems based on site layout or customer/distributor requirements.
  • Prepare technical information to a variety of internal and external customers in the form of Bills of Materials, assembly drawings, instruction sheets, and proper applications of OPW products.
  • Maintain a means of recording and routinely reporting technical service events for OPW products to include troubleshooting, diagnosing, corrective actions and follow-up.
  • Assist with headquarters in identifying and managing regional certification and testing.
  • Provide training in the field for distributors, contractors and end-users on installation, use and maintenance of OPW products, as required.
  • Participate in Proof of Concept testing for new products or existing design modifications.
  • Participate in new product design reviews and assist in development of installation instructions as well as product sales literature for new/existing products.
  • Review published technical data and make recommendations for changes to best meet local requirements.
  • Liaise with the Technical Support Manager, Engineering, Marketing, and Production to communicate trends, make product design recommendations to disseminate for field technical updates and/or technical service bulletins.
  • Maintain efficient working relationships with all other departments and field personnel.
  • Other assignments as identified.

 

Qualifications

  • At least four years of technical/field service experience, preferably in PEI industry.
  • Associates degree in a technical field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to travel in field up to 50% of the time to support customers and business goals. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Strong technical background in electro-mechanical systems and networking including ability to read and interpret schematics. Prior experience troubleshooting issues on automation equipment preferred. 
  • Certification in duel dispenser service is preferred,
  • CAD/Blueprint reading.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • High level of customer focus and ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times with customers and coworkers.  Fully observe Dover’s Code of Ethical Conduct, Employee Handbook “Personal Conduct of Employees” policies and ISO Quality System Standards.
  • Ability to read / write bulletins & business correspondence in English..
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Working knowledge of an established CRM.
  • Self-directed, positive and ethical role model able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE.
  • Must be able to stand, push, pull, crawl, climb, lift 50 lbs., work in environmental extremes and chemicals used in the petroleum industry.
