Job Summary

Responsible for assisting with the positioning, features, benefits, and pricing of OPW products.  The position must also assist with maintaining the key product value statements and materials that will enable advertising, marketing and sales to effectively communicate the strengths and benefits of our product offerings.  The Product Manager will be will be responsible for delivering large and complex New Product Development projects through a defined stage gate process.


Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Perform pricing and competitive analysis by customer channel, in order to identify positions and trends of competitive companies.
  • Conduct needs assessment regarding training needs.  Develop training aides and materials as well as competitor product comparisons.  Integrate these materials into the sales training programs and present at Sales Meetings and Customer/Distributor seminars and meetings.
  • Support product pricing work as well as assisting in gathering market price information to determine trends and price positioning of product offerings. 
  • Actively working in the market to understand customer needs and clearly identifying opportunities within the Retail Fueling equipment segment. Research industry trends, new technologies, concepts, and techniques.
  • Working with Product Development team on determining features, benefits and cost strategies for future products.  Assist Product Development team in monitoring

costs, providing product guidance and identifying issues and opportunities throughout the development process.

  • Attendance at trade shows, customer visits and any other opportunity to educate the market on features and benefits.
  • Working with new business opportunities to determine their effectiveness within the market and attractiveness to OPW.
  • Support new product launch events for new product releases in coordination with the Engineering group.
  • Manage and communicate sales information and product changes both internally and externally.
  • Provide life-cycle engineering with guidelines for product costs and features values and market response to product changes.  Use defined obsolescence process/tool to manage product life-cycle and eliminate non-strategic products and SKU’s.
  • Create competitive product comparators to be used in the sales process.

Education Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related field is required.


Experience Requirements

  • Prefer 3+ years of product management experience with capital equipment focus. 
  • General Retail Fueling industry knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to understand, organize and present technical features and benefits.
  • Proven presentation and facilitation skills.
  • The ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly, and communicate with all levels of management and employees.
  • Project and budget management skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Proven use of analytical computer tools and models is a requirement with a strong focus on Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to travel (approximately 15% - 20% of the time). Primary travel in North America but may occasionally include International travel.


Quality Responsibilities:

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to normal office conditions and usual office equipment like telephone, personal computer, reports and files. The employee will be regularly required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee will be occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds of general office items.  The employee may be asked to visit active constructions sites.  The employee will be asked to visit the manufacturing floor and must be able to wear required PPE.
