Mission Statement: Applies a sustained and effective commitment to safety & health through leadership of related programs in accordance with federal and state requirements.
Accountabilities: Assures the appropriate health, environmental and safety services/programs are implemented and monitored for OPW.
Responsibilities:
The site Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the site safety program and assures the appropriate EHS services/programs are implemented and sustained. The site safety coordinator will receive guidance from the site Safety Management Team.
Maintain a working knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
Work with site EHS team to maintain Carolina Star program
Define, examine, and monitor the process for preventing conditions and behaviors that promote hazardous and unsafe situations with the goal of eliminating them.
Establish, implement, and ensure compliance in investigating and reporting incidents involving injuries, property damage, first aid or near misses.
Maintain and update federal and corporate safety records including but not limited to OSHA Logs, training records, IH evaluations etc...
Ensure a safe work place for employees and visitors by adhering to the OPW Safety Program philosophies and procedures.
Manage safety related communication flow and coordination between managers, supervisors and department cell leaders.
Participate in problem solving activities regarding safety and process concerns
Direct and oversee safety committee activities
Reviews and authorizes new equipment and/or process implementation and sign-offs
Ensure incidents (near miss, first aid and recordable) investigations are conducted and complete
Other duties as assigned

High School Diploma
Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred
