Job Title:        Fabrication Programmer            

Location:        Richmond, VA (Plant 1) 

Shift:               1st Shift           

 

What we are looking for:

 

We are looking for a Fabrication Programmer to support the Fabrication department by programming parts to be made on punches, lasers and press brakes.  Creates NC and CAM programs for sheet metal blanking and forming and troubleshoots machine and systems issues.  Programmed parts information will come from the AS 400, Pro E and AutoCAD software. 

 

What you will be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Program individual parts and create nests using JetCAM and NC Express
  • Create new programs as needed for engineering releases and revisions
  • Modify existing programs for superior utilization, runtime, and quality
  • Work with machine operators to assist in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of machine issues
  • Identify and resolve NC/CAM program issues
  • Identify and resolve network and software issues
  • Create production reports
  • Track data as requested by management
  • Deploy software updates to machinery workstations and servers
  • Use and administration of DMM ordering system
  • Validate and Library parts
  • Creative in implementation of waste reduction
  • Trouble shooting programming and DMM issues
  • Determining routing for new parts
  • Communicate IT needs with the IT department and follow up
  • Communicate to our software support teams on issues and upgrades
  • Provide weekend programming support on a rotation basis
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

What are the basic qualifications?

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • 4+ years of relevant experience 

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science and/or Programming
  • 5+ years’ experience with CAD programming/nesting software

 

To be a great fit for the role:

 

  • Knowledge of metal punching, sheering, laser and brake work.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM
  • Experience with Robowave or multi-axis robot
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Extensive PC knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated written communication skills and documentation skills
  • Dedication to continued education / development of skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use manuals / online resources to find solutions to problems
  • Ability to communicate status of assigned projects to supervisors.
