Job Title:        Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

Location:        Richmond, VA             

 

What we’re looking for:

 

We are looking for a Manager, EHS who will be responsible for implementing workplace environmental, safety, and health programs at assigned facilities to help foster a strong safety culture driving towards zero incidents.  Manager, EHS leads the planning, execution, monitoring and continuous improvement of environmental health and safety programs, including facility security. One (1) EHS Specialists, Security and on-site medical service (nurse) will report to this position.

 

What you will be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Works with Director and operations to support year-on-year safety strategy, outlining specific goals and objectives with appropriate KPI implementation and improvement of EH&S programs at one or more manufacturing and distribution facilities in the US.
  • Collaborate with facility operational teams and EH&S staff to implement action plans, processes, and procedures to control EH&S risks and achieve compliance to the safety and environmental policies, corporate EH&S guidelines, and improvement initiatives.
  • Develops assessments that identify hazards and reduce risk including but not limited to hazard identification, job safety analysis, risk assessments, pre-startup safety review, PPE, machine guarding, and hazardous energy.
  • Conducts training in all aspects of EH&S to ensure compliance with EHS requirements and in a manner that positively engages employee behaviors.
  • Leverage hierarchy of control to identify and execute reduction of risk through engineering controls, administrative programs, and PPE needs identification and management- including engagement and training of gained support and compliance with employees
  • Develop guidelines for conducting compliance audits for all relevant federal, state and local EHS regulations
  • Manage safety compliance with supervisors and leads to conduct daily safety talks, observe and correct non-compliances, eliminate hazards, prioritize work area safety, and clean-up
  • Track Key Performance Indicators for safety incidents (near-miss recordable, lost-time), evaluate trends, conditions and opportunities and initiate process improvements for the plan utilizing information to drive continuous improvement
  • Manage the onboarding of new employees, that will test their knowledge and comprehension, during and after their onboarding experience
  • Support other initiatives as assigned

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial/occupational safety or closely related field
  • 7+ years of experience in an EHS role

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • Master’s degree in occupational health and safety, Engineering or other related discipline
  • Certifications: ISO, CSP, OHSAS, CIHNEBOSH, OSHA, EHS, IEMA, HS, ISO14001

  • Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills in order to liaise with clients, subcontractors & employees
  • Ability to present and communicate at all levels of an organization concise, well organized reports.
  • Skills with administrative software typical of the EHS field (Microsoft Office, etc.)
