Job Title:        Manufacturing Automation Engineer         

Location:        South Chesterfield VA             


What we’re looking for: 


The Manufacturing Automation Engineer utilizes technology to improve, streamline, and automate manufacturing processes. They are responsible for planning, implementation, and monitoring of such technology.


What you will be responsible for in this role:


  • Identification of new opportunities for automation within the manufacturing process
  • Designing new automation equipment or processes
  • Simulating and testing these processes or equipment to ensure they function as desired
  • Writing reports for outlining new concepts, testing outcomes, and ongoing efficiency
  • Programming new automated components to the manufacturing process
  • Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
  • Staff training where necessary – typically after implementing new processes or equipment, or making changes to existing ones
  • Troubleshooting automated processes or equipment when errors occur
  • Management of a project team for more complex designs and implementations


What are the basic qualifications?


  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Process Control, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in food processing, biotechnology, automotive, pharmaceutical, wastewater, systems design, manufacturing, or other similar industry.


What are the preferred qualifications?


  • Excellent research, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of a software development and computer programming
  • Proficiency in hardware and software development and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Training with AutoCAD or other layout and design software.
  • Experience in process control, mechatronics, digital control systems, control electronics, electromechanics, robotics, fluid dynamics, statistics is an advantage.
