Job Title:        Material Handling Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Location:        South Chesterfield, VA   (Richmond, VA)  


What we’re looking for:

The Material Handling Supervisor is accountable for material flow, inventory control and accuracy, and production material flow to support the manufacturing of refrigerated display cases. Must display Business acumen and a passion for making a difference in the business and the ability to drive processes across a system, see trends and analyze data.


What you’ll be responsible for in this role:


  • Document physical supply chain process such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows.
  • Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, move, or store materials.
  • Ensure that materials and parts utilized in the supply chain meet the minimum requirements for quality assurance standards.
  • Confer with production control planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
  • Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.
  • Determining and administering policies and procedures that are related to shipping and receiving as well as the storage of different kinds of materials, supplies and equipment.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage collaborative inputs across peer groups to meet associated deadlines.
  • Experience and success in driving mass SCM restructuring project – including planning, procurement, materials, systems and team.
  • Strong professional presence and high ethical standards of conduct; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication; organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities is a must.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
  • Quickly and effectively shifts gears to meet changing business requirements.
  • Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality.
  • Have a solid working knowledge of the material flow throughout the production floor and operations.
  • Strong commitment to customer service excellence and teamwork.
  • Proven leader with experience leading within a large Manufacturing organization; able to motivate teams and drive accountability.


What are the basic qualifications?


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a leadership capacity (supervisor, team lead, etc.) with at least 1 year in warehouse environment.


What are the preferred qualifications?


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or other related discipline.
  • Five years’ experience working in a warehouse environment in a leadership capacity.
