Job Title:        Materials Design Engineer         

Location:        South Chesterfield, VA   


What we are looking for:


We are looking for a Materials Design Engineer to drive manufacturing productivity and efficiency through analysis, design, and implementation and / or installation of tools, processes, and equipment.  Focus areas will include material management, presentation, and material delivery efficiencies across the organization.


What you will be responsible for in this role:


  • Create and analyze PFEP (plan for every part) information in order to determine the best parts storage and delivery options.
  • Design and implement material control systems such as supermarkets, kanban and flow systems through the use of lean fundamentals.
  • Design and create material movement routes, equipment and systems to assure efficient, safe and quality driven delivery of parts.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Manage capital expenditures as assigned to include project identification, justification and completion.
  • Deliver on productivity targets as outlined in the annual operating plan.


What are the basic qualifications?


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or other relevant technical field, from an accredited university
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in continuous improvement, manufacturing engineering, Six Sigma, Lean, etc. in a manufacturing environment.


What are the preferred qualifications?


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with industrial automation
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Solidworks with 2D and sheet metal design
