Job Title: Senior Engineer

Location: Richmond, VA

 

What we’re looking for:

 

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Product Engineering team who will be responsible for supporting our Parts and Service Organization.  This engineer will be focused on supporting engineering activities around legacy parts, store remodels, and refrigerator display case retrofits.  Their responsibilities include drawing creation and revision, reverse engineering, light project management, and site visits as needed.  This engineer will also support other sustaining engineering activities for the refrigerator display case division.

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Execution of engineering deliverables to satisfy project timelines.
  • Utilize 3D CAD software to create and revise display case components as needed, and drive reverse engineering work as needed.  
  • Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) to define required components and coordinate engineering activities to support project timelines.
  • Assisting manufacturing in troubleshooting production issues related to product and component design. 
  • Ensure designs comply with codes and agency listings (UL, NSF, DOE), Collaborate with external agencies, if needed to understand the impact of compliance and regulations on products and include those as part of specifications.
  • Prepare preliminary and conceptual designs for customer submittal drawings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process and product improvement projects.
  • Manages project from end to end including scoping, resource allocation and management, project planning, task assignment and tracking against project plan, assessing risks as well as project reporting. Ensures projects are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Well aware of reverse engineering and ability to handle reverse engineering 3D scanner
  • Ability to address the technical risk within the project.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrates capability to solve difficult and complex problems, Collaborates with a cross-functional team
  • Travel to project sites as required for engineering deliverables (Domestic Travel<10%)  

 

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering design and development experience (3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD 1 year experience)

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • Mechanical Engineering degree with sound CAD proficiency.
  • Experience with product design and solid modeling in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in practical application of Six Sigma and Lean tools.
  • Project management experience in designing, testing, and launching new designs.
     

To be a great fit for the role:

 

  • 3D CAD expertise as well as PLM experience (Solid Works & Enovia preferred). 
  • Hands-on experience in a fast-paced, customized manufacturing environment.  
  • Previous experience reviewing mechanical designs for improvements. 
  • Strong technical skillset, good problem-solving skills with a drive for results, good written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to build peer relationships and work independently.
  • Must be action-oriented, ethical in value, and have a strong customer focus. 
  • Has knowledge about the organization and understands relevant procedures and processes on how to get things done.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and link cause and effect. Understanding the key stakeholders’ interests and needs, how decisions made within the organization impact them, and our ability to drive business outcomes.
  • Working with Product Management and project stakeholders to develop key product attributes along with VOC (voice of customer) and MRD (Market Requirement Document) etc.
  • Develop and present business cases as required with an ability to conceptualize the technical possibilities and convert them into business opportunities/value creation.
