Job Title:        Senior Refrigeration Engineer            

Location:        South Chesterfield, VA            

 

What we are looking for:

 

We are looking for a Senior Refrigeration Engineer who will be an active participant in the preparation, evaluation and reporting of critical performance data for Dover Food Retail Food Display products.  He/she will be the lead champion for driving root cause analysis and should be able to apply the scientific method to drive appropriate testing and problem solving.

 

What you will be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Lead investigation of root cause analysis for refrigeration and case performance opportunities using fault tree analysis and structured problem-solving methodology.
  • Conduct laboratory tests to simulate faults required for the investigation of quality projects and the development of troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Engage in site visits required for data collection and reporting, and to improve Engineering’s knowledge of field issues.  Will require 25% - 50% travel.
  • Utilize the 8D process to drive quality issues to resolution with cross functional teams.
  • Act as a mentor to lab engineers and technicians, providing expertise and leadership on a wide range of refrigeration testing projects.
  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure design intent and reliability specifications are met for existing and future products.
  • Collect data in a controlled manner and analyze that data to determine appropriate testing actions.
  • Partner with appropriate teams to evaluate component and design alternatives that can be integrated into existing products for quality/cost improvements.
  • Provide input on initial design to ensure performance and increase testing first pass yield.
  • Work directly with design, production, and customer service engineers during case testing to resolve issues regarding performance, parts and customer expectations.
  • Work with product engineering to conceptualize and implement improvements to existing product relative to performance and cost reductions.
  • Partner with appropriate teams to evaluate component and design alternatives that can be integrated into existing product for quality/cost improvements.

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of experience in the commercial refrigeration industry along with 8+ years of laboratory experience.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience in a fast-paced, customized testing/manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with tools and techniques necessary to meet industry standards for accurate refrigeration testing and analysis.
  • Design of Experiments and structured problems solving experience is a plus.
  • Ability to clearly document testing results and communicate them effectively to all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with industry standards for refrigerated display case testing (ASHRAE 72, DOE, NSF 7, UL)
  • Exceptional work ethic and professional attitude.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Solid interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain EPA 608 certification for the safe handling of refrigerants.
