Job Title:        Vice President, Operations            

Location:        South Chesterfield, VA   (Richmond, VA)             

 

What we’re looking for:

 

We are looking for a Vice President, Operations who will own and facilitate the development of the strategic plan, promote change leadership, and drive accountability for key operating metrics to meet customer fulfillment needs and overall satisfaction.  This role reports directly to the DFR President and sits on the executive leadership team. 

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

  • In coordination with our Executive Staff, develop Dover Food Retail’s global strategic plan for our Case and Anthony Operations organization (incorporating targeted strategy for Plant Operations, Sourcing, and Supply Chain areas). 
  • Operationalize strategy across divisions to drive process consistency and leverage best practices and scale to improve operational excellence and cost position
  • Direct leadership responsibilities for our Specialty and Systems Plants, Sourcing, and Supply Chain organizations across multiple sites (3); partner closely with the local teams to drive cultural change and achieve divisional results.
  • Own DFR’s overall productivity target for these locations – collaborate with local site teams and Executive Staff to generate productivity project deck, execution plan, and fulfillment. On-going report-out to Executive staff on established results and progress.
  • Develop and communicate the goals and objectives of continuous improvement activities and provide a system to measure results.  Responsible to drive cultural change, infuse Lean methodology and knowledge, and influence decisions at all levels of the organization
  • Provide leadership to our site teams to focus on DFR’s 4 key imperatives -
    • Safety: Target - Zero recordable accidents
    • Quality: All products are completed the right way the first time, every time
    • Speed:  Innovation, Customer Engagement, Response, and Decision Making
    • Productivity: Process efficiency, Cost Reduction and Continuous Improvement
  • Provide Mentor/coach top Operational talent across the business to ensure we’re developing our bench and operational leadership pipeline.

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • 15+ years’ experience in leading an Operational organization
  • B.A/B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or Production and Operations Management. 
  • LEAN training with a minimum of seven (10) years of experience.  Examples implementing successful lean evolutions.  Must be able to demonstrate a history of sustained results in a multi-plant setting. 

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • MBA or Master of Engineering – preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in driving culture change and providing leadership in various analysis tools, directing changes to the manufacturing processes, improving material flow, and optimizing departmental layouts is required
  • Successful candidate will be able to show documented results in achieving cost reductions to both products and processes
  • Practice in developing ROI’s and project management of modifications to equipment and factory procedures decisions
  • Ability to anticipate and understand business needs and provide guidance to Operations and to functional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills to handle difficult situation sand influence stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills and exposure to complex projects
  • Strong operational planning, supplier collaboration, business experience, and analytical capability.
  • Effective communication and ability to communicate complex compensation details in a clear manner.
  • Working in a collaborative team and balancing the needs of individual stakeholders while delivering corporate objectives.
  • High level of motivation, being a self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to operate in a global matrix organization structure
  • Solid understanding of multi-site ERP systems with comprehensive computer skills
  • Flexible workspaces and work hours that will allow you to unleash the best you
  • Travel Required up to 50%
