This position is responsible for the design, development and implementation of new products and make improvements to existing products for TWG.   


Essential Responsibilities:  

  • Plans, designs and implements mechanical, electromechanical, and hydraulic systems and products.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Designs products and systems such as winches, winch systems, winch accessories, truck mounted equipment, hydraulic systems and parts
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Designs products and systems using common machine design elements, hydraulics, brakes, clutches, gear design, castings, fabrications and machined parts. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Creates and modifies 3-D CAD models, drawings and Bills of Material as needed
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Computes magnitude, direct and point of application of tension, compression and bending forces and develops geometric shapes of machine parts to accommodate operating loads.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Compiles and or analyzes test data to determine effect of design on machine in relation to such factors as temperature, pressure, volumes, speed, tension and horsepower.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Provides direction to test engineering to validate new designs.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Assists in reviews / approvals of drawings, models, standard compliance as assigned.   
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">May approve drawings, and/or approve ECO’s under direction of Engineering management.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Works with manufacturing, production, and quality control to ensure that parts and/or products meet engineering and customer requirements.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Acts as subject matter expert and may coordinate team activities for engineering projects.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">This position is also responsible for, with authority to follow ISO procedures, initiate action to prevent problems, document quality problems, contribute to problem solutions, verify implementation of solutions, control further processing when a problem is identified, protect the environment, including preventing pollution, analyzing or identifying areas for correction or improvement.




  • Must have Professional Engineering Certification (P. Eng Canada), with 4 - 8+ years of successful experience in hydraulics, and mechanical engineering
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Advanced experience with: Mechanical systems and elements, Design analysis of systems and components, 3-D CAD systems and drawings procedures, Integrating electronics and software with mechanical elements, Design of experiments, Hydraulics system design, Intermediate project management experience.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Experience with the design of castings, sheet metal, weldments, machined parts, machine elements, and machine assemblies.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Must be able to travel as required and /or directed.


  • Working knowledge of mobile equipment, cranes, winches, hoists, and geared machinery.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Gated Product Development processes, Critical Chain, and other similar project management processes
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Familiar with thermodynamics
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Experience integrating electronics and software with mechanical elements
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Design of experiments.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Familiarity with all phases of new product development from initial concepting, validation, production, and ongoing maintenance.

    Preferred characteristics, competencies and capabilities:

  • Proficiency using the Company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, communication systems, computer systems, software systems, operating systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel and other related programs.
