JOB SUMMARY:

Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties.

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Drives truck to destination within the surrounding geographic vicinity of the company.
  • Utilizes material handling equipment or support personnel to load and unload.
  • Maintains truck log per state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive more delivery instructions. Loads and unloads truck.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
  • Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
  • Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Key Competencies:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • CDL Class A
  • One to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education:

Requires a high school diploma/GED or 5 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area

Experience:

Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the particular field.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Class A DL is required (driving semi-trucks)

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in MS Word,Excel,Access, Outlook and  Explorer

Mathematical Abilities:

Accuracy in data entry and basic math skills required

Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:

Ability to handle instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)

Professional verbal communication skills required

Other Skills (Technical, or Other special knowledge and abilities)

Ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a team
