What we are looking for: 

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative experienced Product Engineering Manager who will be responsible for leading a team of Mechanical Engineers and Electrical Engineers in an innovative industrial product environment. This position will be an active participant in the evaluation, design, and overall management of the group, as well as the development of all members of the engineering team.  This leader will establish organizational and technical strategies to advance Dover Food Retail – Door division products to the next level of service and reliability. Collaboration with other functional leaders in operations, sourcing, finance, and product management will be essential for this role. 

 

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Product Engineering Manager. This key position will be based on our operation in Sylmar CA reporting to the Director of Engineering. The Product Engineering Manager will require regular interaction with the New Product Development (NPD), Design to Value Team (DTV) and Laboratory teams.  You will have the chance to collaborate and support the design, prototyping and validation for refrigerator door display development. 

 

What you will be responsible for in this role:  

  • Lead in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a high degree of product complexity. 

  • Drive continuous improvement and providing leadership in utilizing various analysis tools 

  • Provide technical support for field issues and assign resources based off the customer requirements. 

  • Define and deploy standard work practices and processes around product change management to ensure portfolio integrity objectives. 

  • Support product management plan on product rationalization  

  • Manage functions of Product Engineering, Engineering to order, and quality improvement collaborating with Document Control with support from the engineers, designers. 

  • Ensure project development activities are completed on time, meeting all requirements, including cost, quality & performance to support the execution and project targets. 

  • Act as the technical project manager providing leadership to the engineers and designers. 

  • Drive action plans to deliver product technical deliverables through Concept Validation, Design Validation and Process Validation. 

  • Conducts regular design, quality, cost, manufacturability and safety reviews with project team and support functions. 

  • Technical support to customers regarding Quality Assurance questions or problems. 

  • Interface with suppliers regarding new designs, supplier questions or material quality issues. 

  • Lead the development of test plans (DVP) and FMEA with the engineers. 

  • Design, prototyping, validation and implementation of new products. 

  • Manage budget (expenses) and Capital (Capex) Plan. 

  • Lead - directs the efforts of engineers and technicians or other team members to assure successful project completion.  Will often be required to multitask and coordinate multiple large projects simultaneously. 

  • Drive the business case analysis (BCA) on new customer requests and provide technical recommendations.  

  • Support operations on supply shortages and maintaining operations schedule.  

  • Support the PDM system implementation (SolidWorks Manage) 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. 

 

What are the basic qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or its educational equivalent) in an engineering discipline.  Advanced degree in engineering or business management preferred. 

  • Min 8 years of engineering experience in design, refrigeration, or similar thermodynamic systems out of which min 3 years of managing an engineering team 

  • Requires 5 years of experience on PDM & BOM Configuration (SolidWorks Manage, AS400, Oracle preferred or similar PLM system) 

  • Requires 3 years of experience in project management, technical management, or leading teams in a technical environment.

Work Arrangement : Onsite  

Salary Range : $150,283.10   - $194,898.00
