Job Title:        Production Manager            

Location:        Sylmar, CA             

 

 

What we’re looking for:

 

We are looking for a Production Manager who will be responsible for the day to day operations, safety, quality and production of a designated department. This includes setting the tone for the organization in line with company values and policies, setting production schedules, training employees on their daily tasks, and supervision of department staff.

 

The Production Manager implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Manage different factors in both short term and long-term perspectives, in driving to assist, support, direct, and lead efforts that result in meeting production goals on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Develop and execute a production schedule for multiple shifts and build product manufactured to exact specifications
  • Prevent unneeded production waste by continuously improving processes and quality 
  • Develop a stable, high-performing team
  • Accurately balance production loads for the manufacturing department to meet deadlines for completion of orders
  • Work under tight deadlines and help maintain smooth flow of operations
  • Work with Order intake, Engineering, Design and Manufacturing teams regarding cost, scheduling for multiple projects daily
  • Monitor and report on any production delays/issues
  • Maintain and monitor materials inventory continually to ensure no production delays
  • Oversee production supervisors, and direct and indirect staff as assigned
  • Provide feedback to Senior Management on process solutions
  • Support production floor teams on an as needed basis and notify Senior Management immediately of any delays/issues as they arise
  • Maximize materials usage
  • Sponsor and lead process improvement/optimization efforts and ensure sustainment of completed initiatives
  • Escalate issues to Department and Senior Management as required in an effective and timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

 

What are the basic qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 7+ years managing a manufacturing operation

 

What are the preferred qualifications:

 

  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification a plus
  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred

  • Ability to train all levels of employees in operations tools and processes
  • Able to engage employees in order to understand their role, level of expertise in various processes and express their value to the organization
  • Able to conduct effective meetings on an on-going basis with all levels of employees
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook; basic skills in PowerPoint and Explorer
  • Knowledge of MRP system, AS 400 System and/or Oracle a plus
  • Mathematical Abilities: English and Metric System – e.g. unites and measurement: length, time, fractions and decimal. Basic algebra, statistical process control
  • Ability to inquire, asses, analyze, and make decisions
