Job Title:      Senior New Product Development / Design to Value Engineer       

Location:        Sylmar, CA 

 

 

What we’re looking for:

 

We are looking for a Senior New Product Development (NPD / Design to Value (DTV) Engineer to be responsible for NPD of refrigerated merchandisers, as well as DTV cost reduction efforts on the existing product lines. The Sr. Design Engineer will work proficiently using SolidWorks, simulation and be responsible for prototype and test designs prior to production.

 

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Responsible for New Product Development (NPD) following the Stage Gate process
    • Concept generation and intellectual property, including scheduling, deliverables, Design reviews and delegation of tasks.
    • Engineering CAD components, models, assembly, and structured bills of material Create fully detailed drawing packages for each build-to-order (BTO) product and release in the PLM system. Perform tolerance stack-up Analysis.
    • Prototype and pilot builds, Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to tailor the design for automated assembly.
    • DFMEA and DVP&R (Develop a test plan and work with the Engineering Lab to validate the product.
    • Agency compliance
    • Responsible for Design-To-Value (DTV) productivity improvements to existing products, Brainstorm, scope, develop and launch projects to achieve target savings.
  • Collaborates with Product Management, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing, and other members of the project teams.
  • Occasionally meet with vendors for finalization of tooling design, concepts and F/A’s.
  • ECN preparation & Maintain control of documents

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years of design engineering experience
  • 3+ years of refrigeration industry experience

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • MS Mechanical Engineering a plus

 

To be a great fit for the role:

 

  • Must have strong computer skills utilizing AutoCAD, 3D SolidWorks, EPDM, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Explorer, E-drawings, MS Project as well as proficiency with PowerPoint and Explorer is essential.
  • Strong track record of NPD and DTV accomplishments
  • Demonstrated expertise in heat transfer and structural mechanics
  • Experience with Stage Gate, DFM, VA/VE, Lean, Six Sigma, other best-practice processes.
  • Ability to lead projects & work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve using problem solving tools and techniques (A3, fishbone, root cause, 5-Whys)
