Job Title:       Project Engineering Manager

Location:        Valencia, CA

 

 

What we’re looking for:

 

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative experienced leader who will be responsible to manage the technical planning, development, and project execution of new products. You will be leading the technical scoping of new products, translation of the voice of the customer to technical requirements, concept development, product performance, and design release for doors, lighting, and merchandising systems.

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Ensure project development activities are completed on time, meeting all requirements, including cost, quality & performance targets to support the project plans and project execution
  • Lead - directs the efforts of engineers and technicians or other team members to assure successful project completion.  Will often be required to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Design, prototyping, validation, and implementation of new products.
  • Drive action plans to deliver product technical deliverables through Concept Validation, Design Validation and Process Validation
  • Lead the development of test plans (DVP) and FMEA with the engineers.
  • Provide technical support for field issues and assign resources to aid in field support as required.
  • Conducts regular design, quality, cost, manufacturability and safety reviews with project team and support functions.
  • Technical support to customers regarding Quality Assurance questions or problems.
  • Manage budget (expenses) and Capital (Capex) Plan.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to define the product market specification, brainstorm the solution, validate concepts with the customer
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on the product fabrication plan

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Advanced degree in engineering or business management preferred.
  • Requires 7-10 years of experience with product design, CAD modeling, GD&T.
  • Requires 5 years of experience as a project management, or leading teams in a technical environment.

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • MS Mechanical Engineering a plus
  • MBA a plus
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification a plus.
  • System Engineering Certification (INCOSE) a plus
  • Proficient in negotiation and conflict management.

 

To be a great fit for the role:

 

  • Leading in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a high degree of product and process complexity.
  • Project Management Certification and agile experience is nice to have. Ability to facilitate activities necessary to a project’s completion.
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve using problem solving tools and techniques (A3, fishbone, root cause, 5-Whys, six-sigma, lean)
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to manage a design team
  • Demonstrate an innovative mindset with ability to generate solutions to customer needs
  • Engineering skills in CAD, mechanical design, tooling design, heat transfer and materials.
  • Experience with complexity reduction, product architecture and systems engineering.
  • Manage system integration of projects in product development and advanced development.
  • Experience leading teams to from concept development to launch of new products.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong Technical and design problem solver.
