Position Summary    

Under general supervision, the Blackmer Pump Technician evaluates, modifies, repairs, and rebuilds Blackmer pump products.
This position will involve approximately 80% Shop and 10% field repair activity, and 10% administration activity.
 

Essenntial Duties and Responsibilities
•    Inspects the components of pumps for serviceability. Then rebuilds the pump in the correct configuration according to the drawing.   
•    Engage with customers and government inspectors by showing proper set-up and use of shop test equipment and how to work the equipment. 
•    Will show how to document test data and provide data to customers.
•    Performs shipping/receiving duties - including constructing shipping boxes, receiving parts, and conducting inventories.
•    Operate and maintain an operating license for forklifts. 
•    Will operate and maintain all shop equipment.
•    Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.
•    Properly store and dispose of waste/ HAZMAT, scrap metal, IAW local regulations and shop processes.
•    Read Government contracts from NAVSUP, USCG.
•    Understand drawing requirements for proper paint and primer use IAW customer specifications.
•    Create shipping labels for GFM.
•    Works overtime as required with advance approval from the manager
 

Qualifications / Requirements

•    High School diploma or equivalent
•    2 years' experience in pump repair
•    Military experience is highly preferred 
•    Ability to be granted military base access 
•    Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
•    Must work at a proficient level with all shop processes and procedures
•    Working knowledge of all tools and measuring devices required for pump repair
•    Ability to read and write in English
•    Able to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations 
•    Ability to write basic reports and business correspondence
•    Effectively communicate by responding to questions from managers, engineers, and other customers 
•    Ability to understand and apply basic math principles
•    Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form 
•    Read and interpret drawings of technical information and government contracts.

Travel Requirement
•    Willing to travel at least 10%

 

Physical Demands
•    Will regularly be required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
•    Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
•    Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

 

Work Environment
•    The environment is primarily in a controlled climate office and warehouse setting, but will require time on the shop floor.  The Shop floor environment is subject to moderate changes in temperature, and the employee will be exposed to typical hazards of noise, flying debris, and overhead hazards requiring the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
