Position Summary


The engineer will be a technical expert and liaise throughout the design process from product specification to manufacturing of new DC charging stations across a range of charging levels. Key responsibility is to work closely with the Director of Product Management and partners to ensure a high quality product is brought to market. A main objective is to closely align with manufacturing during product design, prototype testing, design change implementation, customer-specific builds and creating product documentation by interfacing with all functional teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support design and testing of hardware components and systems used in the global electric vehicle charging industry
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to coordinate implementation of new product requirements to ensure the production and delivery of a high quality product
  • Liaise closely with European engineering team by regular reporting from an onsite presence at manufacturing partner
  • Understand requirements that have an impact on the mechanical configuration and design of the product and ensure the requirements are included in the agreed scope of supply
  • Identify additional mechanical or component configurations which may be required in the product configuration
  • Performance testing of prototypes in laboratory and environmental simulations to diagnose and resolve engineering issues
  • Work with test institute engineers to ensure compliance with certification testing and standards
  • Coordinate and assist with resolution of complex service and vehicle interoperability issues
  • Work closely with solutions team to make firmware modifications to existing platforms to ensure compliancy to all electric vehicle charging standards and protocols such as OCPP
  • Drive process discipline and accountability throughout the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion of projects
  • Collaboration: Elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, peers, and other functional teams.  Think outside the box to drive to creative solutions when challenges arise.


Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required in an electronic engineering discipline with a minimum 5 years of electronics hardware development experience
  • Technical knowledge of the electrical products industry and/or electrical vehicle charger industry with fundamental understanding of industry standards and protocols preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal English communications skills to coordinate and align multiple projects in partnership with multiple DFS internal organizations
  • Understands the need for solid documentation as essential to the design process and has necessary skillset to produce quality engineering documents (product specs, design presentations, test plans, test reports)
  • Experienced user of revision control systems and engineering change management
  • Experience developing and testing electronic hardware components for electric vehicle charging
  • Willingness to use a hands-on approach for prototype and customer testing of hardware
