Mechanical Design Engineer

About the position:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems with implementation of electronic systems for the comprehensive design of laser devices.
You will create manufacturing and assembly drawings of components. Manage engineering documentation and adhere to CAD documentation archiving procedures. Implement new product information (PTM) according to design guidelines and assumptions.
You’ll be responsible for mechanical engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met. Coordinating with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software engineers and project managers and supporting the manufacturing and sourcing teams.
What you will do
- Create detailed designs of mechanical systems, components, and products using Autodesk Inventor CAD software.
- Preparation, verification, and correction of BOMs.
- Ensure designs meet all specifications, regulatory standards, and customer requirements.
- Develop prototypes and conduct testing to verify design performance and functionality. Analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to improve product performance.
- Cooperate with engineers in assessing the designed construction solutions and their impact on the production process and applied technologies.
- Perform detailed engineering analyses, including stress, thermal, and fluid dynamics calculations. Troubleshoot mechanical issues that arise during development and production.
- Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports, presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Cooperate with the Purchasing and Planning departments and the company's warehouse in the field of assembling components for prototype assembly.
- Prepare and place orders for components and sub-assemblies for prototypes.
- Identify design features causing technological problems and present proposals for their solution. Identify the root cause of any quality issues that occur during prototype assembly.
- This position may require some domestic and international travel (up to 10%).
What you need to have:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, product development and project management.
- Experience in laser technology preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of Autodesk Inventor CAD software.
- Knowledge of machine design principles and ability to read technical documentation as well as the ability to lead mechanical projects.
- Ability to perform finite element analysis (FEA) and other engineering simulations to verify design integrity.
- Knowledge of materials science, including properties, behavior, selection of materials for various applications, complex calculations, strength simulations and flow simulations.
- Experience working with a variety of mechanical documentation in an industrial environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, molding, welding, additive manufacturing and manual experience in the assembly of designed prototypes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Windchill document management software and respective ISO standards and regulatory compliance familiarity would be beneficial.
