Are you a results-driven Supplier Development Engineer willing to contribute to our program for supply base excellence?


In this role you’ll be… in charge of developing the performance of your suppliers, qualifying their manufacturing processes and contributing to select new vendors.

Principal Activities/Duties/Responsibilities


  • Part of the EMEA SD team (10 people) your main mission is to ensure that suppliers under your scope reach MI targets (Quality, OTD, cost effectiveness).
  • Qualify new suppliers that will deliver the best value for MI and develop existing ones through continuous improvement plan and Kaizen events.
  • Secure supplier performances through implementation of business scorecards.
  • Implement contracts terms to sustain long term suppliers’ performance.
  • Lead VAVE and Lean activities with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Resolve supplier quality issues in series production and coordinate supplier claims. Support MI manufacturing sites for critical issues.
  • Collect/calculate non-Quality costs and initiate supplier claims when needed.
  • Coordinate activities related to the qualification of supplier’s processes / products (APQP/PPAP) ensuring time to market for new products development.
  • Manage risks and mitigation plans with suppliers.
  • Maintain successful relationships with sourcing, engineering, manufacturing, and compliance departments.
  • Report on suppliers' performances to management and internal stakeholders.
  • Track and report savings linked to supplier development productivity initiatives.

Education and/or Experience Required


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar position (industrial, multicultural).
  • Fluent in English and with good communication skills.
  • Solid technical knowledge in mechanics/plastics, used to technical prints and specifications, capable to challenge designs and critical tolerances.
  • Ideally Lean Six Sigma green or black belt, with practical experience of Lean and quality tools: PPAP, Audits, Control plans, FMEA, 8Do, MSA/SPC, 5S, DMAIC, VSM, Kaizen event facilitation.
  • Experiences in VAVE projects
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, SAP is a plus
