Position Summary:
Reporting to VP of Digital Products, the Director of Digital Solutions Engineering role is responsible for R&D of digital products. This includes working with cross functional & cross-company personnel and executives to incubate revenue potential innovative solutions, identify functional requirements and subsequently working with and leading the Digital & Operating Company (OpCo) teams in the design, development, production deployment and maintenance of the solutions. This role requires both strategic thinking, evangelization and tactical execution.

 

Prior experience communicating the vision and strategy in bold, persuasive terms gaining buy-in within the organization and from external stakeholders is a must. You will be accessible, yet an independent thinker, embracing and synthesizing disparate views. You should also be comfortable managing "what if" scenarios and manage a high degree of ambiguity well. Lastly, the ideal candidate for this role excels in using creativity in problem identification and resolution and has a relentless drive to carry out company goals and objectives.

 

You are data-driven in decision making but have the experience and skill set to leverage intuition to make decisions in uncertain times or ambiguous situations.

 

 

Role and Responsibilities:
•    Lead end to end digitization of various Dover Opco products.
•    Leads IoT hardware & embedded software solutions for Dover wide digital initiatives.
•    Technical liaison for 3rd party engineering development, contract manufacturing, and RF and industrial hazardous compliance certifications.
•    Rigorous revision controls for documentation of all software and hardware specifications
•    Follow cutting edge innovations, technologies, industry trends to create value added prototypes that are relevant to our customer use cases.
•    Assist with digital product evaluations as part of M&A activity.
•    Manage vendors and the contracts for maintaining balanced teams within the budget.
•    Provide technical mentorship and project guidance to teams.
•    Establish development, deployment best practices, document, and communication to companywide.
•    You are a creator of focus and a driver to deliver against that focus - be it for digital internal or Opco, customer related initiatives.
•    Engage with senior-level corporate and operating company leadership to build relationships, provide executive presence and presentations.
•    Tenacity in achieving success goals. Holding your team, yourself, and other stakeholders to account in delivery to commitments.
•    Be player-coach and provide hands-on leadership to the team & elevate the team efficiency.


 
Qualifications:
•    BS, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent in experience required. MS is a plus.
•    10+ years in the Software industry experience in a fast-paced environment, working through all phases of the software development life     cycle.
•    At least 5 years’ experience in PLC, embedded software engineering in C/C++
•    PCB design & development of released product.
•    Two or more years of related experience in sensor design and integration.
•    Working experience with embedded hardware (e.g.: AVR, Cortex-M, Raspberry Pi or Arduino)
•    Proven experience with
•    product strategy and communication via presentations to business executives and technical audience
•    leading architects, large development teams with agile development methodologies & automated testing, deployment technologies.
•    Experience with various industrial controls systems (Ex: Siemens, Rockwell etc)
•    Experience with various protocols such as CANbus, BACnet, RS-232, Bluetooth, and Wifi 802.11x protocols.
•    Solid working knowledge of analog, digital and mix-signal design methods and best practices
•    Strong experience with building products with electronics components, sensors, actuators, and radio interfaces
•    Experience with RF, certifications, measurement, testing.
•    Familiar with encrypted polyglot persistence options on IoT devices for secure storage and transmission. Experience with encryption,     security, and networking concepts.
•    Experience with Linux or derivatives (i.e. Yocto, Ubuntu) and Windows is also desirable.
•    Strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required.
•    Strong experience with technical project management
•    Effective conflict and impediments management, with ability to build trust and align stakeholders and multi-functional teams.
•    A clear, direct, and simple communication style in both verbal and written form that eliminates the potential for ambiguity.
•    You have a superior ability to break things down to their essence and instill that focus into your teams and your customer engagement.
•    A desire and ability to get deeply into the details, in order to provide effective coaching to lift individual and team performance.
•    Well-developed negotiation and influencing skills, for technical and non-technical audiences.
•    Ability to travel to company locations or customers when needed.

 

Additional Skills: (Nice to have):
•    Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google.
•    Experience with databases such as SQL server, MySQL
