Dover is in the midst of large digital transformation and we also opened up Dover digital labs in Massachusetts. Reporting to VP of Software Engineering, the Director of Software Engineering role is responsible for R&D of digital products. This includes working with cross functional & cross-company personnel and executives to incubate revenue potential innovative solutions, identify functional requirements and subsequently working with and leading the Digital & Opco teams in the design, development, production deployment and maintenance of the solutions. This role requires both strategic thinking & tactical execution to build rich set of digital product portfolio on Dover connected productions platform. This role will work closely with cross company leadership, digital teams.

Role and Responsibilities


  • Lead select end to end SaaS digital solutions that are cloud and edge centric
  • Follow cutting edge innovations, technologies, industry trends to create value added prototypes that are relevant to our customer  usecases.
  • Assist with digital product evaluations as part of M&A activity
  • Manage teams directly & through matrix structure
  • Responsible for hiring, mentoring, career development and performance management
  • Responsible for architecture, design, development, post production enhancement & maintenance of key revenue generating IoT solutions
  • Manage vendors and the contracts for maintaining balanced teams within the budget
  • Work collaboratively with Digital program & project managers, Opco teams for successful on time delivery of solutions
  • Provide technical mentorship and project guidance to teams.
  • Establish development, deployment best practices, document and communicate to company wide.
  • You are a creator of focus and a driver to delivery against that focus - be it for digital internal or Opco, customer related initiatives.
  • Engage with senior-level corporate and operating company leadership to build relationships, provide executive presence and presentations.
  • Support and maintain high morale among the team.

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • 12+ years in the Software industry experience in a fast-paced environment, working through all phases of the software development life cycle.:
    • At least 4 years of Cloud based SaaS leadership experience with Software development teams
    • Atleast 8 years of hands-on Software development & architecture experience
  • Proven experience with
    • product strategy and communication via presentations to business executives and technical audience
    • leading architects, large development teams with agile development methodologies & automated testing, deployment technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cloud (e.g., AWS/Azure well-architected), device software architecture, security, and REST-based services.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals (high-level understanding of OO concepts, data modeling, design patterns, Ux design, cloud/edge architecture, APIs, etc.).
  • Deep experience working with one of the following technologies: Java/Python/C#/C++/C, Object Oriented Design, UI technologies, Open Source tools, CI/CD tools, SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Strong experience with technical project management
