Position Summary:

Dover is seeking a Vice President of Finance to join the Dover Finance and Dover Digital leadership teams.  The Vice President of Finance will report directly to the Dover CFO while providing functional finance support to Dover’s Chief Digital Officer.  The Vice President of Finance is a newly established leadership position responsible for supporting Dover’s Digital strategy and digital front end initiatives (e-commerce, for example), providing financial and strategic support to Dover’s diverse portfolio of digital and software-focused companies, and directly overseeing the financial activities of an expected portfolio of businesses that report directly to the Dover Digital team.  The role is a true strategic business partner to the Dover Chief Digital Officer, providing financial oversight for Dover’s key digital assets and growth initiatives. As a member of the Dover Digital team, the Vice President of Finance is a key voice in developing and executing near and long-term financial and business strategies, both organic and inorganic. Additionally, the Vice President of Finance will collaborate with the operating company and segment finance teams, as well as Dover corporate finance functions, providing financial guidance, insight, and ensuring fiscal responsibility and financial controls.  The role will also directly manage the finance staff supporting the Dover Digital organization.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Dover Chief Digital Officer in supporting Dover’s diverse portfolio of digital and software-focused businesses to create value through inorganic expansion, organic revenue growth and profitability enhancement;
  • Assist in developing strategies for recurring revenue growth and SaaS product offering
  • Participate, and over time, lead financial due diligence on potential SaaS/Data/IoT company acquisitions. 
  • Preparing financial data book as a foundation for due diligence analysis and reporting. 
  • Analyzing financial data and identifying key trends behind the performance of the target, discussing performance, and forecast assumptions with senior leaders and writing reports that document our findings and recommendations around key financial and business issues in the transaction.
  • Leading planning and execution of finance integration programs to support synergies and deal value derived from capital allocation.  
  • Lead & assist in the processes for digital business long-range strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and ad-hoc process improvement projects.
  • Develop financial strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to influence strategic direction;
  • Assist in driving the long and short-range information system plans to support business objectives and key initiatives for Dover and its digital and software-focused businesses;
  • Help establish a set of Key Performance Indicators (“KPIs”) for Dover’s digital and software-focused businesses to monitor performance and drive results, while working with segment and operating company financial leadership teams to develop a robust reporting and financial management process;
  • Act as a thought-leader and resource to business and finance leadership personnel in Dover’s digital and software-focused businesses;
  • Lead analysis and planning related to organic and inorganic digital/software growth opportunities;
  • Lead and direct the finance function in the areas of financial management, analysis, budgeting, planning, reporting and maintaining internal controls, for those businesses directly managed by Dover Digital;
  • Oversee accounting and reporting systems and ensuring compliance with all appropriate Dover  policies, accounting rules and regulatory requirement for those businesses directly managed by Dover Digital;
  • Lead the development of Dover Digital’s strategic and operating planning processes;
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting Dover Digital and Dover’s digital and software-focused businesses; i.e., evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions and/or mergers.
  • Develop and ensure strong relationships with the Dover operating companies, segments and corporate functional groups;



  • At least 15 years of progressive growth in Finance, with at least five years in leadership roles (two years in a CFO or equivalent role preferred);
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred;
  • Experience operating a finance function within a digital/software focused business, with prior activities including Key Performance Indicators (“KPI”) management, finance organization development and talent management, development of complex business case analysis, and the management of accounting activities, policies and procedures in a Software as a Service (“SaaS”) focused business;
  • 5 or more completed digital M&A transactions in a lead or 2nd chair M&A finance role, preferably with 1-2 international ones.  
  • Domain expertise in evaluating software, digital business models, SaaS, the Internet of Things businesses
  • Strong quantitative, financial and analytical skills: ability to build, critique and refine Return on Invested Capital (“ROIC”) financial models quickly and accurately – be the expert on the details/numbers and can form an opinion.  
  • Ability to prioritize on a real time basis; unflappable, poised, ability to manage conflict.  
  • Sound judgment – the ability to identify and assess risks and uncertainties in a due diligence context; ability to recommend accepting known risks where appropriate.  
  • Demonstrated success and the ability to work across functions and business units in a complex, global organization;
  • Track record as a business partner, able to drive performance from a finance leadership purview;
  • Success as a strategic thinker and experienced in developing business and financial plans for short- and long-term results; 
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving and strong analytical and negotiating skills with a high-performance standard;
  • Proven ability to interact and influence at all organizational levels;
  • Self-directed, positive and ethical role model with professional credibility, accountability, and the ability to thrive under pressure;
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, an orientation to details, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions;
  • Able to travel to Dover’s business as needed.
