Position Summary

  • Position is located in Wheeling, IL and will report directly to the Quality Manager
  • This position is considered to be a full time split shift position (12pm – 8:30pm)
  • This position may require some overtime including Saturdays
  • Will be responsible for performing visual and dimensional measurement inspections, non-destructive product testing, use hand held gauges, and operate CMM
  • Will be responsible for documenting and filing Quality documents
  • Will be responsible for completing inspection and documentation for:
    • First Piece Inspections
    • Incoming Material Inspections
    • MRB & Warranty Returned Items
    • Final Inspection Reports

 

 

 

 

 

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

 

 

  • Incoming Receiving Inspection: Complete incoming receiving inspection transactions per print or job routing requirements; this includes dimensional and visual inspection activities.  Ensure all required documentation is received, readable and complete all Oracle transactions as required. Report all non-conformances using the MRB process.

 

  • First Piece Inspection: Complete first piece inspections using visual and dimensional inspection techniques per the job routing instructions. Document inspections and report any non-conformances using the MRB process.

 

  • Final Inspection: Complete daily final inspections for all product that is ready to be shipped using visual and dimensional inspection, special inspection forms, and specified Final Inspection Checklists. Review product testing documentation to ensure product conformance and complete all required paperwork to document the inspection activities accurately. Report any non-conformances.

 

  • Production & Assembly Support: Support machining and assembly personnel as requested with inspection activities and internal non-conformance investigations.  Document all support on the appropriate forms. Will be responsible for passing or rejecting parts

 

  • Communication: Communicate to supervisor and others on a daily basis using verbal and written communications of any and all issues that arise on the shop floor or Quality Lab.

 

  • Quality Improvement: Work with Quality Dept. personnel, machinists, assemblers, and vendors to improve product quality.

 

  • Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of inspection area, Quality Lab, and Final Inspection Area. 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Experience using measurement equipment (micrometers, calipers, bore/pin gauges, etc.)
  • Work closely with production staff to solve quality problems and answer questions on quality
  • Setup and operate a CMM
  • Must have a good understanding of GD&T specifications & blueprint reading
  • Must have good computer skills with Microsoft Office knowledge.
  • Capable of managing and completing multiple tasks accurately and expeditiously
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and complete work with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to lift 50lbs

 

 

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience working with tight tolerance machined products
  • 2+ years of CMM programming experience

Education & Certification Qualifications

  • High School Degree
  • Metrology Certifications
