Position Summary

  • The position is located in Wheeling, IL and will report directly to the Quality Manager
  • This position is considered to be a full-time 1st shift position (6 am – 3:30 pm)
  • This position will be required to work overtime and some weekends as scheduled
  • Will be primarily responsible for operating both CMM and PMM measurement machines.
  • Will be required to perform visual and dimensional measurement inspections, non-destructive product testing, use hand held gauges, and help with gage calibrations
  • Will be responsible for documenting and filing QC Lab documents
  • Will be responsible for completing inspection documentation for:
    • First Piece Inspection Parts
    • Incoming Receiving Material Inspections
    • MRB & Warranty Returned Items
    • Special Accuracy Reports
    • CMM & PMM setup documentation




Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:



  • Documenting CMM & PMM Inspection Setups: QC Lab Tech will be responsible for creating setup instructions for all parts/part families. Will also be responsible for maintaining all tooling used for setups on CMM & PMM.  


  • First Piece Inspection: Complete daily first piece and/or in process inspections. Must document number of parts inspected and total time of inspection. Report any non-conformances using the MRB Table process


  • Incoming Receiving Inspection: Complete incoming receiving inspection and move transactions per print or job routing requirements. This includes dimensional and visual inspection activities. Ensure all required documentation is received and complete all Oracle transactions as required. Report all non-conformances using the MRB Table process.


  • Production & Assembly Support: Support machining and assembly personnel as requested with inspection activities and internal non-conformance investigations.  Document all support on the appropriate forms provided for traceability and dispositioning. Will be responsible for passing or rejecting parts


  • Communication: Communicate to supervisor and others on a daily basis using verbal and written communications of any and all issues that arise on the shop floor or QC Lab.


  • Quality Improvement: Work with Quality Department personnel, machinists, assemblers, and suppliers to improve QC Lab activities.


  • Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of Inspection Area, QC Lab, and Final Inspection Area. 



Job Requirements:

  • Experience operating CMM machine using PC-DMIS software
  • Experience using hand measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore/pin gauges, etc.)
  • Must have a complete understanding of GD&T specifications & blueprint reading
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office software for creating inspection reports and setup documentation
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of documentation required to meet customer’s standards
  • Work closely with production staff to solve quality problems and answer questions on quality
  • Capable of managing and completing multiple tasks accurately and expeditiously
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and complete work with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to lift 50lbs




  • 3+ years of experience working with tight tolerance machined products
  • 2+ years of CMM setup & programming experience

Education & Certification Qualifications

  • High School Degree / GED
  • Metrology Certifications for CMM operation
