Position Summary:

The Maintenance Manager selects, develops and leads the team and activities for planning and scheduling maintenance activities required to set up and sustain effective operation of the plant with a preventive and predictive maintenance focus. Leadership of the team includes recruitment, onboarding, development (including coaching and training), and effectively managing performance with established objectives and responsibilities. They will evaluate machines and their processes for maximum manufacturing effectiveness by applying knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fabrication, assembly, and tooling; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

 

The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager.  This position is located in Wheeling, Illinois. They will lead a high performance maintenance team engaged in set up, preventive and predictive maintenance, inspection, lubrication, and other plant and facility maintenance needs and general maintenance of the building and grounds. They will bring strong leadership and management capabilities to focus on manufacturing excellence, overseeing the implementation of improvements in quality, safety, lean manufacturing, and production aligned with the Company’s business operating system that will provide high levels of service to customers and achieve the Company’s strategy and operational goals.

  • Leads and fosters the continuous improvement roadmap for the manufacturing team.  Leverages continuous improvement tools to drive continued operational improvements and ensures engagement of the entire manufacturing team through strong communication and clear direction.
  • Performs all work in a manner that ensures safety of self and others.
  • Participate as a core team member in the planning and set up of the new facility responsible for establishing best-in-class maintenance practices, procedures and team.
  • Develop, assign, and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance per facility requirements.
  • Perform non-scheduled or emergency maintenance when required to support operations.
  • Maintain maintenance data and records in maintenance system so that data analytics on problems and solutions are possible.
  • Analyze and solve electrical and mechanical problems which cause downtime or otherwise limit productive capacity of equipment.
  • Make recommendations to modify or replace equipment when necessary to support demand, improve productivity or reduce cost of ownership.
  • Complete general maintenance of physical plant and grounds.
  • Maintain parts inventory of items required for general maintenance.
  • Support Safety Committee and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of self and others, paying particular attention to lock out/tag out requirements.
  • Coaches, provides feedback to and develops maintenance team members.   Motivates and manages the maintenance team to achieve annual goals/objectives set at the individual and organizational level.
  • Available to be on call for emergency situations.
  • Comply with Environmental Management System.
  • Leverages continuous improvement tools for continuous improvement.

Job Requirements:

 

 

 

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in a maintenance leadership role in a manufacturing facility with machining (low volume, high mix production preferred).
  • Experience with CNC machining required.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Experience working in an organization with strong lean/continuous improvement and safety orientation.
  • Work in and with a high performing team, a plus.

Education and Certification Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred

 

 

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time initially but then occasionally post-start up. Travel mainly to the Midwest, US.
