Position Summary:

The Production Supervisor for DESTACO is responsible for the supervision and coordination of second shift. He/she will assign work and monitor all work for quality and timeliness, problem solving and decision making. He/she will also ensure that all safety procedures are followed. He/she will perform performance reviews and provide clear feedback to employees. He/she is responsible for the quality of production output. He/she will act as liaison between suppliers and customers and define methods and equipment used to measure process's key quality characteristics. He/she will train production workers in updated work procedures.


The Production Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager. The position is located in our Wheeling, Illinois and has hourly employee as direct reports. The position requires the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.


Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Leads and promotes safety awareness with other key members of the team.  Promotes accident prevention and employee involvement in regard to a safe work environment.  Ensures employees have an understanding of the safety expectations of the organization.
  • Leads and fosters the continuous improvement roadmap for the manufacturing team.  Leverages continuous improvement tools to drive continued operational improvements and ensures engagement of the entire team through strong communication and clear direction.
  • Coaches, provides feedback to and develops assembly management and team members.  Motivates and manages the assembly team to achieve annual goals/objectives set at the individual and organizational level.
  • Supervises team on a daily basis, while insuring safety requirements are met.
  • Responsible for the quality of production output.
  • Ensures the completion of the daily schedule.
  • Responds to abnormalities in the department, such as production disruptions, implements counter measures and manages daily continuous improvement.
  • Regularly coaches, mentors, disciplines and provides feedback to team members.
  • Conducts performance appraisals.
  • Manages numeric information
  • Reports and elevates any issues reported by employees to management.
  • Schedules weekly overtime when needed.
  • Assists with the hiring process.
  • Inventory/on time delivery key performance indicators
  • Schedule/Plan Shop releases
  • Support Inventory Planning
  • Any duties required assisting customers and/or making DESTACO a successful organization.

Job Requirements:


  • Requires 2 years minimum Supervisory experience in a Machining environment
  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to learn Manufacturing software such as Oracle
  • Understanding of Quality Systems
