SCOPE:  

Programming Conventional and Swiss CNC lathes, Turning Centers, Milling Machines and Machining Centers using AutoCad Inventor Suite, Matrix Cam, Esprit, and Part Maker; maintaining program records; working in a high-performance team environment.   

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Skilled in reading and the use of various measurement equipment for part inspection  

  • Attention to detail and drive for continuous improvement.  

  • Proficient in the use and application of CADCAM software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly  

  • Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications  

  • Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality  

  • Consider and select tools required to cut various materials and apply speeds and feeds according to proven practices. Calculates cutting feeds and speeds appropriate for the tool, material and machine conditions.  

  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise  

  • Create, review and edit precision computer numeric controlled machining programs for production equipment  

  • Maintain data and files for each part and machining work center  

  • Perform machine set-ups including first piece to produce conforming parts  

  • Assist in the training of new employees on how to properly operate CNC machines and programs  

  • Must be able to read, interpret and understand drawing, part routers, G-Code, and process specifications  

  • Communicate and collaborate closely with engineers, machinists and leadership who will use the programs and process documents.  

  •     Check accuracy of completed programs by running simulations or tests.  

  • Monitor program/process changes during new process development and complete all system updates.  

  • Prepares geometric layout of designs using proper software.  

  • Determines sequence of operations in a program.  

  • Understands and utilizes lean principles when writing or modifying programs for increasing efficiencies, reducing set-up times, etc.  

  • Monitors all programs to make sure they follow blueprint instructions, ensuring the quality of the product produced and the safe execution of the task.  

  • Prioritizes work to achieve targeted timelines and project completions.  

  • Provides input on software and hardware needs for efficient execution of the task.  

  • Provides input on machine selection for future expansions.  

  • Attends meetings as required and/or assigned.  

 

 

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:  

  • Minimum Education:  Associates Degree or equivalent  

  • 4 years min experience programing in a machine shop  

  • 4-5 years CNC Lathe programming  

  • Experience working with ESPIRIT and/or MAZATROL CAM software a plus  

  • Swiss Machine programing a plus  

  • Must know how to fixture and hold parts  

  • Must have very good communication skills   

  • Must be able to work in collaboration with team members.  

  • Available to work weekends and overtime  

  • Capable of standing for extended periods of time  

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for short periods of time  

  • Ability to work under pressure while balancing multiple priorities  

  • Ability to work independently and execute multiple projects
