Role Purpose / Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

•    Lead the design of the power electronics element of the AMB product.
•    Specification and design (including DFMEA) of power electronic assemblies. 
•    Prototype testing and design validation of electronic assemblies.
•    Provide expertise to support the field service group in power electronics related problems. 
•    Develop and provide internal and external technical training.
•    Author articles and present case studies.
•    Liaise with third party regulatory authorities (UL, CSA etc).
•    Set policies associated with power electronics and drive policy changes and practices.
•    Lead customer centered RCA studies. 
•    Manage the draughting of power electronics components.
•    Manage revision control of power electronics schematic and assembly drawings.
•    Mentor lower junior engineers and technicians.
•    Support procurement of electronic components.
•    Support patent application process.
•    Product technical documentation including manufacturing packs and test procedures.
•    Technical product support through lifecycle
•    Continuous Improvement and re-engineering to improve design robustness/reduce cost/complexity
•    Working closely with other disciplines to develop integral technical solutions
•    Track developments in manufacturing techniques in this and related industries to maintain up to date manufacturing processes.
•    Any other duties required by the developing needs of the business.

Qualifications

•    1st/2:1 Honours Degree in electronic engineering **
•    Masters in power electronics *
•    At least 5 years post graduate experience **
•    Previous experience in design of power electronics for inverter drive systems or UPS systems. **
•    Experience of certification for EMC **, low voltage** and Machineries * directives. 
•    Design of electronics for industrial instrumentation systems. *
•    Design of SMPS*
•    MOSFET and/ or IGBT**
•    Automated production test of power electronics *
•    CADSTAR * or other PCB design software
•    Spice *
•    Servo Control systems *
•    AutoCAD and or  Solidworks *
•    MatLab/Simulink*
